One marble left
Only one marble left. I’ve been anticipating this moment for some time now. For 6550 days to be exact. Now my daughter’s done with High School. She’s been my mini-me for so long its hard to think of her as the beautiful, smart, and independent woman she has become. But here she is. All that I prayed she would be. All that God created her to be.

When a child is born, parents/caregivers have roughly 938 weeks with their child until they graduate high school. You get sick of everyone telling you that “it goes by fast” or “enjoy it now.” Especially when you’re in the “no sleep” era and you’re not exactly sure how to enjoy those moments. Then something interesting happens….they go to school. And as you do the happy dance because you think someone else is responsible for a few hours of the day, you stop dancing because you realize that although you graduated X number of years ago, you are once again back in school, navigating your little one through homework, responsibility, friendships, heartbreak, and successes.
It too seems that this stage will go on forever, when suddenly they are in middle school, and you’re navigating their independence, identity, and for those of us who are blessed to have a graduate this year – COVID.
Middle school goes by in the weirdest time warp that my other children didn’t have in middle school and suddenly we are shopping for homecoming dresses, taking AP exams, and touring colleges.

Each jar represents time at different stages: birth, kindergarden, middle school, high school, and the last one is this week for me.
What did I learn raising three kids? Too much for a blog post. What do I hope to pass onto others who have younger children? Enjoy it now. It goes by fast.
And this…. you cannot fully comprehend these words until you live them. Life is like that. One day you too will cry and do the happy dance at the same time because your nest is empty. Enjoy all the feels… you’ve earned them.
Until Everyone Hears,
Dr K.
P.S. – Oh, and if you ever hear me say, “God loves you and so do I,” I know those words are true because I’ve lived them, and I can help you live them too.
Priceless.
So true! Love you and I’ll keep praying for you!
