Moving from repentance to being one with God

Repentance and Penitence

Repent: Sincere regret or remorse.
Penitence: the action of feeling or showing sorrow and regret for having done wrong.

We often think about repententing of our sins. Something we did that turned us away from God. But sometimes we can repent because we never truly understood how we missed the mark. Our world is so divinely complex that we cannot know all the answers. We don’t know how to hit the mark every time. We need a way to correct ourselves. So we seek answers from the Creator. Who knows how to hit the mark. We lament. We express remorse. We adjust. And we move forward. Because not repenting and simply adjusting doesn’t bring us any closer to God. It only allows us to guess God’s proximity.

Faith isn’t about guessing how to get to God. Faith is about living with God and walking with Him down the road of sanctification until we are one with God.
