What’s not to love?

We love the dog.
She’s always happy to see us.
She doesn’t judge.
She’s constant.
Her capacity for grace seems unlimited.
She gets us outside.
She keeps our circadian rhythms going.
Without her we feel lonely.
But even with her we can feel lonely.
She’s not a person.
And we need people. But what we get are people who
Aren’t always happy
Are judgmental
Inconsistent
Disgraceful
Indoor
Off hours
And we need them
And they need us
We all need each other to be more like the dog
And to love each other all the more when we fall short.
Because God loves us when we do.
That’s something worth wagging your tail for.
lief.

Ephesians 8-9 - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God— not the result of works, so that no one may boast.
