My Top 10: The Real Gratitude List
Let’s get real. Gratitude is great, but sometimes it’s the little, weird things that truly make life worth living. I’m taking a moment to honor the unsung heroes of my happiness. Here are the top ten things I’m genuinely, hilariously thankful for right now.
- The Mute Button on Video Calls. This beautiful little icon has saved me more times than I can count. I’m thankful for the freedom to snack loudly, sigh dramatically, or whisper sweet nothings to my dog, all while looking professionally engaged. It’s the hero we don’t deserve.
- That One Pair of Pants That Still Fits. After a year of questionable dietary choices, there’s that one pair of jeans. They don’t judge. They just accept me for who I am. They are my constant, my rock. I will wear them until they literally fall apart.
- Wi-Fi That Actually Works. I’m grateful for the magical, invisible force that delivers endless cat videos and lets me order pizza without talking to a human. When that signal is strong, I feel like I can conquer the world. Or at least watch one more episode.
- The Person Who Cancels Plans First. You know that feeling of relief? You didn’t really want to go out anyway. To the friend who sends that “So sorry, can’t make it!” text, you are a true mind reader and a champion of introverts everywhere. My couch and I thank you. And before you ask…I’m an ambivert.
- Self-Checkout Lanes. I’m thankful for the ability to buy an absurd amount of ice cream and three different kinds of cheese without a single look of judgment from a cashier. This is my journey. Let me live it in private.
- Finding a Forgotten $20 Bill. Discovering cash in an old jacket pocket feels like winning the lottery. It’s a gift from my past self to my present self. Thanks, me. I knew you had my back. I’m buying a fancy coffee with this.
- The Skip Ad Button. I have the attention span of a goldfish. I’m thankful for that little button that lets me jump straight to the content I came for. It has saved me from approximately one million hours of irrelevant commercials. My time is precious.
- Dry Shampoo. I still think its Voo-Doo but it helps in a pinch.
- Food Delivery Apps. The power to have almost any food appear at my doorstep is something I will never take for granted. I can get tacos, sushi, and a milkshake all at once if I want. What a time to be alive.
- My Bed. After a long day of navigating all of the above, there is nothing better. It’s my personal cloud, my charging station, my everything. I’m thankful for it every single night. And every morning when I hit snooze.
Until Everyone Hears,
Dr. K
