Unlocking Abundance: Small Steps to a Bigger Life
I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to live well. Not just getting by, but truly flourishing. For me, it all comes back to a belief in a God of abundance, a God who loves without asking for anything first. This isn’t about a grand, complicated plan. It’s about small, intentional actions that open us up to a richer, more present life.
This journey is about growth, not perfection. It’s about finding the holy in the everyday and realizing we already have everything we need to begin.
Here are a few practices that have changed everything for me. I hope they can do the same for you.
Practice Gratitude Like It’s Your Job
It’s easy to focus on what’s missing. Our brains are wired for it. But what if we intentionally looked for the good? Gratitude isn’t just about saying “thank you.” It’s a way of seeing the world. It’s noticing the warmth of the sun, the taste of your morning coffee, or the kindness of a stranger.
Your Action Step: Start a gratitude list. Every day, write down three specific things you are thankful for. Don’t just list them; feel the gratitude. Let it sink in. This simple act retrains your focus from scarcity to abundance. You’ll start to see gifts everywhere.
Embrace a Little Holy Mischief
A life of faith doesn’t have to be quiet or boring. I believe we’re called to stir things up in the best way possible. Holy mischief is about breaking the rules that keep us small and disconnected. It’s about choosing radical hospitality, sharing what you have, and loving people right where they are.
It’s inviting someone to dinner when your house is a mess. It’s speaking up for someone who has been silenced. It’s choosing connection over comfort.
Your Action Step: Do one unexpected act of kindness this week. Buy coffee for the person behind you. Send a text to a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while. Find a small way to break the routine and show someone they matter.
Become a Storyteller
Your life is a story. It’s a collection of moments, struggles, and triumphs that are uniquely yours. Sharing our stories is one of the most powerful ways we connect with each other and with God. When we share, we realize we aren’t alone in our fears or our joys.
Storytelling is also about listening. When we truly listen to others, we offer them the gift of being seen and heard. We build bridges of empathy and understanding.
Your Action Step: Share a small piece of your story with someone you trust. It doesn’t have to be a big dramatic tale. It could be a memory, a hope, or a fear. Then, ask them to share one of theirs and just listen.
Live with Purpose, Right Now
We often wait for the perfect moment to start living the life we want. We wait until we have more time, more money, or more energy. But a purpose-filled life is built in the now. It’s about being present in this moment, not some far-off future.
Living with purpose means aligning your daily actions with your deepest values. It’s about choosing love, presence, and growth in the small decisions you make all day long.
Your Action Step: Ask yourself one simple question this evening: “Where did I find life today?” Identify one moment where you felt truly alive and present. This helps you recognize what gives you energy and purpose, so you can invite more of it into your life tomorrow.
This path isn’t about earning love or proving your worth. It’s about opening your hands and your heart to the abundance that is already here, waiting for you. Let’s start flourishing, together.
Until Everyone Hears,
