The Wonder of Bubbles

Bubbles!

A few weeks ago we hosted something called Messy Church. It's church but not as you know it. We do lots of activities together as families and then have a meal and a message.

One of our stations this time had two bubble machines. There was no reason other than that bubbles are fun. One of the kids who came squealed with delight as she loaded up the bubble juice and turned it on. I loaded the other one and we had about 15 minutes of pure wonder as we ran through the bubbles.

Sometimes you need to do something simple that brings wonder into your life. A favorite book from several years ago is "Dangerous Wonder" by Mike Yaconnnelli. In it he says,

I long for a life that explodes with meaning and is filled with adventure, wonder, risk, and danger. I long for a faith that is gloriously treacherous. I want to be with Jesus, not knowing whether to cry or laugh.

Sometimes we aim for safe faith. Others aim for a faith that is gloriously treacherous. Which one do you think has better stories?

Until Everyone Hears,

Dr. K

My own church held its first Messy Church some 8 years ago. We use our Parish Hall rather than church building… sometimes I get to cook
