Mercies.

“Morning by morning new mercies I see.”  -Great is Thy Faithfulness

Should make me want to jump out of bed and start looking.
Yet I turn over one more time.
Hit the snooze.
Slowly and painfully get ready for the morning.
Because I know that along with those mercies comes the chaos.
The pain.
The heartbreak.
Those things that make the mercies more meaningful and beautiful.
Those things that make me want to stay in bed.

I also know that staying in bed does not help me avoid any of it.
I’ve got to face the world at some point.
So I’d better get up and start looking.
Looking for the mercies.
The other things will come find me but if I’m looking for the mercies,
I’ll see that there are truly more of them than I thought.
They are a gift.
A bonus for participating in building a bit of heaven on earth.

Look for the mercies. There are new ones every day.
