Never Give Up

“So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.”
Galatians 6:9 NRSV
So many times in my life I start down a path and come close to mastering a skill or at least getting to a good level and then I get bored with it and walk away. Or I get frustrated with it and walk away. Sometimes I’ll veer back to it but only sporadically and never long enough to level up.
Doing good work can sometimes be exhausting. If you bring someone joy it can give you energy but if you are advocating for a cause, the tension that you are speaking into can drain you and cause you to grow weary. Perhaps that is why so many evils still remain in this world - because we grow weary too easily.
I desperately want to see love and kindness be the default in our world. I want people to see the beauty of God’s creation. I want people to count their blessings instead of naming their faults. I want people to make new friends and see the possibility of friendship in strangers.
It sounds beautiful but overwhelming. When the weariness comes, my inspiration comes from the One we were created to be in union with. I pray and see love as the default in God. And I count that as my blessing.
Never give up.
Until Everyone Hears,

P.S. - Have a very, very happy 2021!
My prayer for each of us:
Amazing God,
You bring light into a dark, dark world. You give hope to the hopeless. You turn our mourning into dancing. Open our eyes so that we see the goodness and abundance that come from you in whatever forms they present themselves. And give us strength to resist evil in whatever forms it presents itself. We love you. May that love multiply and grow in our hearts and transform the world.
Amen.
Amen to that!!
