Love

Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind.  Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but, on the contrary, repay with a blessing. It is for this that you were called—that you might inherit a blessing.” 1 Peter 3:8-9

Its human nature to react to negativity. We feel the need to defend ourselves. Over the years my filter has gotten a bit stronger and now I typically only mentally retort an excuse, an insult, or an eye roll. But sometimes the negativity still slips through.

Reading these words from Peter make me think that responding with kindness or blessings will allow me to inherit a blessing. But that’s not what it says. It does say I am called to inherit a blessing but I believe that giving a blessing is the blessing.

Once we see that blessing others and showing love to others is not just good for them but us as well, we truly live into our calling. Our calling to love.

You have one job. Love. Just do it.

Until Everyone Hears,
