Family: You’re Stuck
Without airing too much of the Karafanda dirty laundry, we had an “episode” over the weekend resulting in one of the children wanting “a new family.” He was insistent that if he were adopted out to another family, all of his problems would be solved and he could be happy.
So it only added to the trauma when I told him that, “God gave you this family and you’re stuck with us.” He argued that he could run away to which I replied, “I’ll love you no matter where you live because you’ll always be mine.”
For better or worse, we are stuck with our families. They drive us crazy but mostly because they understand how crazy we really are. They know what buttons to push and they push them OFTEN!
But they also love us despite our craziness. They’ll stick with us through the bad times and celebrate with us at the good ones.
God gave us our family for a reason:
“He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) -1 Timothy 3:4-5
Our families give us what we need, to do what we are called to do in the family of God.
I’m not sure what that means for you but for me it means I’m in for a wild ride.
Until Everyone Hears,
