5 Ways to Kickstart Your Faith in the New Year

faith, prayer, #holymischief

The new year is a time for new beginnings.

Now is the time to set goals and make resolutions for the year ahead. If one of your resolutions is to strengthen your faith, I have some tips for you! In this blog post, I discuss five ways that you can kickstart your faith and get closer to God in the new year. Let's get started!

1. Find a church

The first thing you can do to kickstart your faith is to find a church or spiritual community that you feel comfortable in. If you are struggling with feelings of doubt and loneliness, it can be helpful to connect with others who share your values and beliefs. Whether it's through attending church on Sundays or regularly meeting up with a small group at your local parish, finding other people who are journeying alongside you in your faith journey can be incredibly encouraging!

2. Read the Bible

Another way to kickstart your faith is by reading the Bible on a regular basis. Even if you aren't someone who considers yourself particularly "religious," the Bible offers wisdom and guidance for every aspect of life. Whether you're looking for advice about how to live more contentedly or how to handle a difficult situation, the Bible is full of wisdom from God's Word that can help guide you in your faith journey.

3. #HolyMischief!!!

Another simple way to kickstart your faith is by incorporating small acts of kindness into your daily life. Whether it's smiling at a stranger or donating an old book to a local library, even the smallest act of selflessness can make a big difference in both your and others' lives. Additionally, these kinds of small acts of #HolyMischief can inspire you to do more throughout the year and strengthen your relationship with God as you work toward bringing light to the world!

4. Pray

In addition to reading the Bible and practicing kindness, one way to kickstart your faith this new year is by praying regularly. Prayer doesn't need to be strictly reserved for times of crisis or sadness; instead, God invites us to pray constantly and talk to Him about every part of our lives. Whether you're at home or in the middle of a busy workday, taking a few minutes out of your day to spend time with God through prayer can be an incredibly rewarding and reassuring experience.

5. Worship Regularly

Finally, if you really want to kickstart your faith this new year, and you have a church home, make a commitment to attend church regularly. While attending services on Sundays is certainly beneficial, it's also important that you give yourself permission to slow down and take some time for spiritual reflection throughout the week as well.

So if you're looking to strengthen your relationship with God this new year, start by incorporating these five tips into your everyday life! Whether you implement one of these suggestions or incorporate them all, I hope that they help kickstart your faith and deepen your connection with God in the months ahead.

Thanks for reading! I hope that this blog post helped encourage you to take steps toward a deeper faith this new year. Happy 2023!

Until Everyone Hears,

Dr. K
