What are you called to be?
I just watched “Founder,” the movie about Ray Kroc and McDonalds. There’s a line in the movie describing how the McDonald brothers became successful at one of their stores: “and just like that, we became an overnight success 30 years in the making.”
There is no such thing as overnight success. There might be overnight fame but fame and success are two different things.
We often grow weary of the persistence it takes to achieve even the smallest things. We give up because we don’t see the results we want when what we should’ve been measuring was our attitude or mindset. Are we living like the person we want to be or just doing things differently for a short time in order to get to a certain outcome?
Jesus wasn’t an overnight success by humans standards. If you consider his ministry successful, that took 3 to 33 years depending on your metric. If you consider the church successful that took anywhere from 50 days to 300 years, depending on your metric. If you consider the resurrection his success, no one knew about it for 3 days. Most didn’t start believing about it for several weeks.
Until Everyone Hears,
