Happiness

Barak
The Hebrew word for bless is barak which means “to kneel” or “to show respect.” The Greek word for blessed is makarios which means “happy” or “blissful.” In both cases happiness or blessedness does not happen in a vacuum. Happiness happens when we are in relationship with God or with other people. When we worship or show respect, then we are happy. Not due to circumstances but due to the source of our happiness in God.
“Happy are the people to whom such blessings fall; happy are the people whose God is the Lord.”
