MOG – Day 5 Giving to the Needy
Luke 12:33
Giving should be easy for Americans. Compared to the rest of the world, we are rich. I would go on a limb and say that everyone in my small group is rich by world standards. But that doesn’t mean we manage our money well or that we have an excess to give.
One of the biggest complaints from people who don’t attend church is that all the church wants is my time and my money. I could argue that that isn’t true but the truth is that God wants you to give your time and money toward someone else that needs it. Not because God is a radical socialist but because God wants you to love others.
If you love others, you give to them when they need it. That doesn’t mean you can’t have boundaries. But give.
Don’t have anything left to give? Do what the Bible says and sell your possessions. Don’t think you can get anything for them? Then give your possessions directly to someone who needs them.
God wants you to give all you can. John Wesley said, “Earn all you can, give all you can, save all you can.” It is up to you do decide what you “can” do.
