National its-all-about-me Month
Many of you may know that February is American Heart Month or Black History Month. But did you also know that its also National Dental Month or National Boost Your Self-Esteem month? Now as you learn about history you can feel good about your smile and heart.
I heard on the radio yesterday that it was National Hot Chocolate day but was told by an elementary school student that that holiday was in December. So after a bit of research I found out that it is officially in December.
And January 31.
What?????
We have two National Hot Cocoa days? How can this be? Isn’t there some sort of ISO 9000 standard for these things?
http://www.gone-ta-pott.com/ seems to be the official resource for official “National” days and I think the name of the web site says it all.
We have too many of these months/days. Its enough to stress us out. I think I can remember Groundhog’s Day on Feb 2 because they’re just so darn cute but I think I might forget Pancake Week on Week Two. Shouldn’t every week be Pancake Week? And although I’m inclined to remember Engineering week on Week Three, that’s only because I’m a “Hell of an Engineer”. I believe many hairy dawgs will be skipping that celebration.
So I’m declaring this month National ITS-ALL-ABOUT-ME Month. After all its my birthday month and I’m usually inclined to celebrate all month long. I’ll probably skip Feb 22 as that is “Be Humble Day” but as for the other days – bring on the parties!
How would I like to celebrate this month that I hope will boost my “self-esteem”? I’d like to say that I’d spend my time praying more, loving more, or giving more. And hopefully I’ll get a lot of that done on Love My Pet Day and Read to Your Child Day. But I may just have a few indulgences as well. Especially on Feb 12 – Man Day, Plum Pudding Day, and Pancake Day.
Until Everyone Hears,
I'm wondering if Pancake week is somehow tied to the Easter tradition in the UK of pancake day on Shrove Tuesday – which happens every year just before lent starts so that you use up all of the nice ingredients in your cupboard to make fasting that much easier??
